Throughout the college football season, the Tournament of Roses and the Rose Bowl Game Football Committee will select players from each partner conference as the Big Ten and Pac-12 Player of the Week.

For their outstanding performances in week one, Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III and UCLA running back Zach Charbonnet were selected by the 15-person committee.

Big Ten Player of the Week
Kenneth Walker III, Michigan State
Jr., RB, Arlington, Tenn.

  • Ran for 264 yards and four rushing touchdowns in the win over Northwestern, 38-21
  • Set the record for rushing yards in a season opener for MSU
  • Became the first MSU player to run for 250 yards and four touchdowns since 1971
  • This is Walker’s first career Rose Bowl Game Big Ten Player of the Week honor

Pac-12 Player of the Week
Zach Charbonnet, UCLA
Jr., RB, Camarillo, Calif.

  • Scored a touchdown and ran for 117 yards in the 38-27 win over LSU
  • Tallied two 100 yard rushing days as a Bruin in two games
  • Finished the game with a team-high 152 all-purpose yards
  • This is Charbonnet’s first career Rose Bowl Game Pac-12 Player of the Week honor
