The Rose Parade band is made up of Salvation Army musicians from across the USA, meeting for the first time during the week of the parade. Each musician is part of a local Salvation Army worship center, providing music on Sundays and rehearsing regularly throughout the week. These fine musicians arrive prepared, both physically and musically, and then work to become the cohesive unit you see each January 1st. They are also unique because the members span generations. The Salvation Army is well-known for its social work, meeting human needs without discrimination but did you know that it’s also an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church? These two areas of Salvation Army ministry are inseparable, forming the basis of this international movement, currently at work in over 133 countries.
