Hailing from South Florida, the Emmy®-nominated songwriter Alexander Star is making waves as a musical force for positive change. In a groundbreaking collaboration with Visit Lauderdale, he released the destination anthem, “Laudy Dayo,” which he will perform aboard the float. Beyond the melodies, Star is celebrated as a modern-day “Impact Artist,” using his music to inspire transformation. His tunes have echoed in Super Bowl campaigns, graced prime time television, and resonated within the walls of the United Nations. A globetrotting maestro, Star’s creative influence knows no bounds, with performances spanning over a dozen countries. Noteworthy are his anthems for nonprofits like “My Solid Ground” for HANDY, Inc., supporting teens in foster care, and “Just One Firefly” for 211, a national crisis prevention hotline. Collaborating with esteemed organizations such as The Children’s Services Council of Broward County, Xtreme Action Park, Feeding South Florida, the City of Miami Government, and more, Alexander Star continues to compose a symphony of impact. Now, with the latest crescendo in his repertoire, partnering with Visit Lauderdale on their float, he extends his reach and influence, adding a brilliant new note to his legacy of positive change.

This is the first time Visit Lauderdale, the official destination marketing organization for Greater Fort Lauderdale, is participating in the Rose Parade. “Visit Lauderdale’s float will be a living tapestry in motion,” said Visit Lauderdale president and CEO Stacy Ritter. “We are incredibly proud of our hand-selected float riders who represent different aspects of Greater Fort Lauderdale – from our rich cultural heritage to our commitment to inclusivity and diversity, and of course our extraordinary sports, entertainment and musical personalities who encapsulate what makes our destination so special.”

The float, which is 24 feet long by 18 feet wide and 55 feet high, will re-create Greater Fort Lauderdale’s tropical paradise through an ingenious use of organic materials. Designers will utilize up to 45,000 flowers, including 1,000 varieties of fragrant and colorful roses, paired with flax seeds, brussels sprouts, sesame seeds, blue statice, heliconia, cymbidium orchids and more, to cleverly showcase Greater Fort Lauderdale.

For millions of viewers around the world, the Rose Parade is an iconic tradition at the beginning of the new year.
