EQUESTRIAN UNITS WITH INSPIRING STORIES SET FOR 2015 ROSE PARADE®

PASADENA, Calif. (August 20, 2014) – Pasadena Tournament of Roses® President Richard L. Chinen has announced the 18 outstanding equestrian units that will ride in the 126th Rose Parade, themed “Inspiring Stories.” 

The 18 groups selected are (listed alphabetically by group):

  • 1st Cavalry Division Horse Cavalry Detachment
  • Budweiser Clydesdales
  • Hawaii Pa’u Riders
  • Hermanos Bañuelos Charro Team
  • Los Angeles County Fire Department
  • The Martinez Family
  • Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament
  • The New Buffalo Soldiers
  • The Norco Cowgirls Rodeo Drill Team
  • Old Spanish Days in Santa Barbara
  • Prime Time Express Mounted Drill Team
  • Scripps Miramar Saddlebreds
  • Spirit of the West Riders
  • United States Forest Service Pack String
  • United States Marine Corps Mounted Color Guard
  • Valley Hunt Club
  • Victorian Roses Ladies Riding Society
  • Wells Fargo

 

Equestrian units are selected to showcase a variety of breeds as well as impressive and unique tack and costumes. All riders must have previous parade riding experience. In addition to riding in the 5-1/2 mile long Rose Parade on New Year’s Day, equestrian units will participate in Equestfest, which will take place December 29, 2014, at the Los Angeles Equestrian Center. During Equestfest, groups perform trick riding, drills, dancing and roping skills, and attendees can walk through the stables and speak with the riders.

 

About the Pasadena Tournament of Roses®

The Pasadena Tournament of Roses is a volunteer organization that annually hosts the Rose Parade®, the Rose Bowl Game® and a variety of associated events. The Tournament’s 935 volunteer members act as ambassadors of the organization within the community and serve on one of 31 committees that ensure the success of the parade and game.  Collectively, they contribute upwards of 80,000 hours of manpower each year.  The 126th Rose Parade, themed “Inspiring Stories,” will take place Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, followed by the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Northwestern Mutual.  For additional information on the Tournament of Roses please visit the official website at www.tournamentofroses.com.
